Children's Buddhism Alphabet

A is for Asia (Buddhist teaching spreading from Thailand to Tibet)
B is for Buddah (The one who is awake)
C is for Chant (Song. To utter in musical monotone)
D is for Dharma (The truth. Path. Teaching of the Buddah)
E is for Enlightenment (To see the light. Of intellectual and moral advancement)
F is for Five Precepts (divine commandment based on principle of non-harm to self and others. Maxim)
G is for Gotma (family name of Siddattha who turned into the Buddha)
H is for Hermit (one who lives in solitude. Monastic often-celibate way of life)
I is for India (country where Buddhism began around 2,500 years ago)
J is for Three Jewels (The three most important things in life)
K is for Karma (sum of man’s actions. Deeds, which determine his fate)
L is for Lotus (flower, plant grows up towards light. Symbolic)
M is for Meditation (To ponder. Make mind calm and still)
N is for Nirvana (state of perfection. absorption into supreme spirit)
O is for Ordained (selected. vow to have three jewels at centre of ones life)
P is for Pramodya (joy, as a result of faith)
Q is for Qi Gong (Tai Chai. Chinese system for balancing energy)
R is for Robes (loose outer garment. different traditions have different colours)
S is for Sangha (community of all those who follow Buddha’s teachings)
T is for Tibet (Asian country where Buddhism took root)
U is for the Universe (open heart to, all collectively)
V is for Virtue (moral perfection. Practise of goodness)
W is for Wesak (festival which commemorates enlightenment of Buddha)
X is for Extremism (religious intolerance. Violence. Vandalism i.e. against Buddhist monks)
Y is for Yashoda (Siddatha’s beautiful wife)
Z is for Zend (ancient language allied to Sanskrit)
